INDIVIDUAL PROGRAMS
Individual programs for behaviour modification or obedience/complex skills can be set up at a location that suits your needs. They can be held at your home, an outside park or dog friendly cafe location close to you. Dogs thrive on one on one attention and individual sessions are a great way to fast track your dog’s skills or move quickly and safely towards improving your dog’s behaviour and allowing you to fully enjoy them both inside and outside the home.
GROUP CLASSES
Group sessions are an affordable and enjoyable way to develop you dogs confidence and work on engagement/focus around distractions. If you have a group of friends who are interested as well, we only need to organise a time and place. otherwise you can join an existing group, Finn and Claude train most mornings 7am at the haven, Terrigal and all are welcome. Group sessions can include jumps, scent work, lots of play and obedience.
THERAPY PROGRAMS
The value of animal therapy has been well documented, and I have had many occasions to witness the benefit a kind dog can bring to young and old alike. I would like to share just one of those occasions. On arrival at a nursing home which we had been visiting for close to a year a nurse pulled me aside. She informed me quietly that a gentleman we regularly visited and were very fond of had suffered a mild heart attack that morning and could we please visit him. We went directly to his room where a nurse was just finishing his 10 minute observations, and he remained attached to numerous machines monitoring his heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen. It was quite a scary scene, and the resident staff were obviously concerned. We entered the room and Finn immediately picked up that something was not right with his friend. He walked unbidden to him and ever so gently climbed up beside him on the bed. The resident put his arm around him and was soon stroking Finn as he lay beside him. After Ten minutes a nurse came and did the required checks, there were improvements in all responses. Within forty minutes our friend’s oxygen, blood pressure and heart rate were within the normal range and he was able to talk coherently. The response children have to therapy dogs can be just as miraculous. Together we can create tailored therapy programs catering to the specific needs of individuals, both young and old.
"Thanks so much Cozette!"
"We have just finished our third session with Cozette! She is truely amazing with her skills and tips. I'm looking forward to working with her more for our Frankie. He's coming along so well. So very proud. Thanks so much Cozette! I highly recommend this lady to anyone that needs a fabulous trainer."
- Kristen Bucko, Frankie's Human
I believe that there are few things more beautiful in the world than a well-trained, gentle dog. And there are few things more irritating than one that is untrained.
Consequently, when my pair of two year old Labradors started snarling and growling (about once for every dozen encounters) when they met other leashed dogs, I knew I needed professional help.
Bill and Ben are not yet perfect, but they are well on their way, thanks to a lot of hard work by Cozette of Cozette's K9 Education.
Now instead of pulling me along like an out-of-control water skier, my boys walk obediently to heel. They sit and drop when told (nearly always), stay on command and their snarling attack mode has almost disappeared. When it does, their training will be complete.
Cozette's system is carrot and stick, with the emphasis on rewarding gentle behaviour. She adores dogs and only uses kindness mixed with firmness for their training.
If you love your dog but there are things about his/her behaviour that you are not comfortable with, I urge you to enlist the help of Cozette.
